KD14: The new Nike — Kevin Durant sneaker you need to review now
Kevin Wayne Durant who is also simply known by his initials ‘KD’ is one of the few men that would find it difficult hiding in a crowd because of his height and talent.
KD needs no introduction to those that love the NBA, and we should be grateful to the University of Texas and Seattle Supersonics for spotting such a remarkable player.
With the list of personal and team awards (NBA championships, NBA MVPs, Olympic Gold Medal, NBA Rookie of the Year Award, etc.) he has next to his name, it’s not surprising that major brands have always been interested in having him sign a contract with them as an ambassador.
Nike is one of the major sports brands that has continued to have some of the best athletes you can ever think of on its list of brand ambassadors, and these ambassadors surely know how to sell sneakers especially professional basketball players.
When you know the value of a person to your brand, you wouldn’t let them go so easily. KD and Nike’s vision must have aligned to a certain extent for KD to have earned a sponsorship deal with Nike. Also, getting an endorsement isn’t the only thing KD has been able to achieve, but being ranked as one of the highest earners is enough reason not to doubt his amazing abilities on and off the basketball court.
The KD14 which is Kevin Durant’s signature sneaker was released April 10 around the globe and you can grab the Black/White colorway. The KD14 Cyber colorway was released April 11 in Greater China only. But for those in North America, it seems patience is a virtue and you’ll surely be able to make a purchase tomorrow (April 14).
After spending much time just viewing the KD14, I wouldn’t say I’m impressed or not, because a thought in my mind keeps telling me it's an improvement on the KD7, but it kind of look too simple. Although the strap was reintroduced, I don’t see myself going to a party in the KD14. The swoosh is surely a ‘Yes’ for me and the sock racer isn’t a bad idea, but I’m not too sure about my opinion on the multicolour designs which looks similar to splashing different colours on a sneaker using a paintbrush.
I believe Nike must have shared the details of the design with KD before a final decision was made to produce the sneaker. Based on this, KD knows what makes him comfortable and die-hard fans understand what it means to have an icon as a role model. If KD is able to move around the court easily with the KD14 and does what KD does best (scoring, rebounds, and steals), then I think the aesthetic of the sneaker wasn’t really the main point of producing the shoe after all.
According to KD, he says; ‘It’s been a while since we incorporated the strap, which excites me,”. He continued by saying; “My other favourite part about the shoe is the cushioning, which helps me feel low to the ground and still helps give me some of that energy back.”
Also, if KD is able to the NBA championship playing for the Brooklyn Nets in those sneakers, then it surely would be a bestseller.
As usual, the Dartemuv team just want to say thank you for reading this article and we hope to bring you more…
